About Me
Hello, and welcome! I’m Dr. Janet Canino. Thanks for checking out the Exceptional Guidance Center!
I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 20 years, guiding others as they navigate life’s challenges. I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, supporting you in building stronger relationships and healthier boundaries, fostering better self-awareness, and overcoming obstacles. My approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based techniques, with a focus on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, seen, and understood.
I rely on science-backed frameworks such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and the work of Dr. Ross Greene using Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS).
Outside of work, I’m an avid advocate of the Great Outdoors, enjoying everything from hiking to the beauty of a sunset (sunrises happen too early to enjoy). I frequent bookstores and libraries, always eager to explore a good read. At home, Maya, our Golden Retriever, keeps me from sitting too long in one spot. Together, we are working on becoming a registered Pet Partners team. She loves meeting new people and is especially drawn to anyone who is stressed out or upset. So if you are interested in including Maya in our meetings, just let me know.
Reaching out can be a big decision. Whether you’re just starting your journey or exploring options, I’m here to offer a supportive environment to help you navigate the path ahead. Taking this step is a sign of strength and I’m ready to support you whenever you decide to move forward.
And I look forward to the opportunity to work together!
